Please take note of the below important information, should you require medical assistance:

If you are travelling overseas

Members requiring medical assistance outside the borders of South Africa should call International SOS on the international emergency number +27 11 541 1225.
If you are travelling overseas and require an embassy letter, you can request it directly from the Profmed App. The App can be downloaded for Apple and Android devices. Alternatively, request your letter from Client Services on 0860 679 200, Mondays to Fridays between 07:30 and 18:00, and Saturdays between 08:00 and 12:00, exclusive public holidays.

How to request an extended supply of medication

Members who are registered for chronic medication and travelling outside the borders of South Africa can apply for an extended supply of chronic medication for a period of up to three months. You need to apply at least seven working days prior to departure. To request your extended supply of medication, contact us on 0860 679 200 or send an e-mail to

For emergency medical assistance with RSH

In all instances where Profmed members require emergency medical transport within South Africa, it is of vital importance that Netcare 911 be contacted on the emergency number 082 911 to access such services.

For emergency and non-emergency advice

Members can contact Health-on-Line (082 911) where a qualified nursing sister will provide emergency and non-emergency telephonic medical advice to members via the 24-hour Emergency Operations Centre. Information is given in accordance with current clinical best practice.

Consult with your doctor in a virtual consultation

Members can consult their GP or specialist for a follow-up consultation via the Profmed App. The Profmed App is available for Apple, and Android devices. (use icons).

The Profmed App provide easy access to all important contact details and members can find the nearest hospital emergency room from their location and navigate their way there in a medical emergency.
